James K. Polk 1795

Polk rarely allowed himself to become overwhelmed, never feared delegating, and always demanded accountability in return.

*These are 3 great traits to start mastering today. Don’t allow yourself to become overwhelmed, never fear delegating, and demand accountability. You’ve got about 2 months left to be like Polk this year.

Daniel Boone 1734

One of the nation’s most historic routes, the Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail was blazed by the legendary frontiersman in 1775 from Long Island of the Holston at what is now Kingsport, TN, through the Cumberland Gap of Virginia and into Kentucky. It would become the route for hundreds of thousands of settlers of the western frontier.

*Find the closest wilderness trail and blaze like Boone.

Joseph De Piro 1877

Mgr Joseph De Piro.jpg

Joseph De Piro was born in Malta on November 2nd, 1877 into a wealthy and influential family. As a young man he thought about becoming a lawyer but then felt that God was calling him to the priesthood.

*What is God calling you to do with your life? Ask and see what God says.

Warren G. Harding 1865

The only historical ranking he’ll ever top is the one about how much hush money presidents paid their mistresses.

*One way to save money, is to be the opposite of President Harding. He lost the White House china in a poker game – don’t gamble. He hired his friends who weren’t qualified and they were beyond corrupt – hire the right people. And we will never know how much hush money he had to pay to his mistresses – be faithful.

Nelly 1974

Nelly’s music has the ability to resonate with several different types of crowds. The hood and the hillbillies combined show love to him. He has songs with Gucci Mane, Tim McGraw, and Rick Ross. It’s difficult to apply a lane to this type of versatility.

*Listen to Nelly while you’re hiking a trail today. If you can’t find a trail to hike, do a Nelly workout. Wear Air Force One shoes

Marie Antoinette 1755 – Marie Antoinette’s birthday cake

And the expression isn’t as callous as it may sound. From an economical standpoint, it was a perfectly logical thing to say.

What Rousseau or Maria Theresa actually said — whatever the case may be — is “qu’ils mangent de la brioche.” This doesn’t mean “let them eat cake;” it means “let them eat an egg-based bread” [source: Goldberg]. The type of bread to which the speaker referred is a more luxe loaf than the typical flour-and-waterbread of the Parisian pauper.

*You deserve some cake today. You’ve celebrated 2 presidential birthdays and you’ve hiked a trail. So make this cake and enjoy. Let them eat cake

If you want a meal, try another Nelly CROSSOVER – His favorite muscle-building meal?

“My specialty is probably turkey burgers. They’re the best, Swiss and American cheese, lettuce, Thousand Island dressing.” – Nelly

Larry Flynt 1942

“If you’re going to be a bear, be a grizzly.”

Misery acquaints a man with strange bedfellows says Shakespeare. A joint appearance on Larry King Live accomplished something like that for Flynt and Falwell. The two men became friends, of sorts, and this led to an unlikely meeting of the minds, where Flynt, at least in one instance, convinced Falwell to abandon a public stance he had taken against Tinky Winky, the purple Teletubby character Falwell argued was a hidden homosexual symbol  because “he is purple, the gay pride color, and his antenna is shaped like a triangle: the gay pride symbol.”

*You have a great DYK about Larry Flynt, Jerry Falwell, and Tinky Winky to share with someone today. And remember if you’re going to be a bear, be a grizzly.

Try to get winded 10 minutes a day. Physical activity is good, and even a little bit of higher intensity activity can go a long way toward boosting your aerobic capacity.

*Get winded for at least 10 minutes today. Go to the driving range and drive golf balls for 10 straight minutes. Play 18 holes if you can.

Stephen Crane 1871

These poems are Biblical parables for a secular age: instructions for how to press through what we may feel is a lonely, barren desert of a life with clear eyes, dignity and a sense of humor.

*Read Crane’s poems to help you press through today with clear eyes, dignity, and a sense of humor.

Tim Cook 1960

Fortune magazine cited the head of the world’s largest technology corporation as saying he planned to donate his estimated $785 million fortune to charity – after paying for his 10-year-old nephew’s college education.

“You want to be the pebble in the pond that creates the ripples for change,” Cook told the magazine.

Anthony Kiedis 1962 – listen to Red Hot Chili Peppers

Sometimes the Silliest Ideas Make the Biggest Splash – You know the one; it’s the now famous sock outfit. In the earliest of days, one of the first incarnations of the band came out to perform wearing nothing but socks, not on their feet. What’s particularly funny about this story is that Anthony explains the stunt drummed up so much buzz for the band, that when they played their club dates, the promoters and booking agents would actually see to it that the “sock” stunt got written in as a rider in their contracts.

*Wear nothing but a strategically placed sock while listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Jenny McCarthy 1972 – turkey dinner

Why She Loves It

“Turkey dinner is a concoction I can mush together. I like the multi-texture and multi-tastes — the turkey with the jam and buttered corn niblets and mashed potatoes — it’s great to have it all on a fork,” she says.

*It is November. Use Jenny’s recipe as practice for Thanksgiving in about 3 weeks. Don’t be afraid to add red hot chili peppers
