Gene Wilder 1933 – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Dinner Party

Image result for gene wilder charlie and the chocolate factory gif

Start by channeling your inner Charlie Bucket with a simple, humble dish. Jamie’s Italian Bread and Cabbage Soup with Sage Butter, though slightly more decadent than the version the Bucket family often ate, layered like lasagna with grilled bread and cabbage in stock that plumps up like bread pudding when cooked.

Serve a second soup in honor of Violet Beauregarde’s three-course bubblegum meal. To start, try Giada’s Hearty Tomato Soup with Lemon and Rosemary. Let it warm you up from the inside out as it slides down the back of your throat, and serve it with a dollop of lemon rosemary crème fraiche.

Violet’s second course consisted of roast beef and a baked potato. Whip up Sunny’s Herb-Crusted Roast Beef with Horseradish Cream and Michael Chiarello’s Mini Baked Potatoes with Marscarpone and Prosciutto Bits. The bite size potatoes will leave just enough room for dessert.

Even if you ate Alex Guarnaschelli’s Blueberry Pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in its entirety, we promise you won’t actually turn into a blueberry.

Float on a Fruit Fizz high as you let the rest of dinner digest. Charlie and Grandpa had to burp their way down from the ceiling, but these mango, raspberry and blackcurrant versions from Nigella won’t leave you feeling bloated or gross.

No Wonka feast would be complete without chocolate. Chocolate-Covered Peanut Butter Cheesecake Pops are a perfect parting gift that’s both easy to make and fun to eat.

*Give out 5 golden tickets to attend your Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Dinner Party.

Rebecca Latimer Felton 1835

Felton holds the noble title of the first female to serve in the United States senate, although she only served for a day. Women are making heavy strides in the political world, yet still are not held on the same pedestal as men, which is an extreme disappointment. Rebecca Ann Latimer has not been widely commemorated, not because she is a woman, but because everyone has become so comfortable with a patriarchal society, that no one feels that it is necessary to celebrate women, especially women of power.

*Please realize that the patriarchal society is dwindling and one day soon will be but a memory.

Playing music is a complicated undertaking that engages multiple areas of the brain simultaneously. In essence, it’s the definition of multitasking. Translating black and white symbols into pleasing sounds requires:

  • fine motor movements and an intact sensory system to manipulate an instrument,
  • immediate processing of visual and auditory elements of a melody,
  • mathematical precision and internal rhythm to keep tempo,
  • emotional interpretation of the sound, and
  • coordination with other performers.

*Today would be a great day to pursue music lessons. As you see, it won’t be easy but so worth it. If you do play an instrument – play, baby, play! Watch Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future for motivation.

Raised in a rough blue-collar St. Paul neighborhood, early on LeRoy Neiman became a “street kid,” in his words.

In 1987, Prince built a sixty-five-thousand-square-foot, ten-million-dollar recording complex in Chanhassen, Minnesota, and called it Paisley Park. It was intended to be a commercial facility—Madonna, R.E.M., and Stevie Wonder all recorded there—but by the end of the nineteen-nineties it had stopped accepting outside clients. Eventually—no one can quite say when—Prince began living there. He wanted to establish a self-contained dominion, insulated from interference or judgment, where he enjoyed total control, and his life could bleed easily into his work.

On April 21, 2016, Prince collapsed and died in an elevator at Paisley Park. He had overdosed on the opioid fentanyl, which he’d been taking for chronic hip pain. He was fifty-seven, had sold around a hundred million albums, and did not leave a will.

Nathan Hale 1755

Guard against your own weaknesses: A more experienced spy would never have fallen into Rogers’ befriending trap, but Nathan did. As we’d learned, Hale did not inherently have the ability to deceive, and he perhaps felt a secret, non-deceitful bond with Rogers, a fellow American soldier. A worldly Hale could have guarded against this gullible weakness of his, but he didn’t. There was one other flaw that Hale may have had that was left from his Yale college days. Though pious, it’s reported that Nathan still liked alcohol. It’s very plausible that Robert Rogers, a well-known life-long alcoholic, bought some drinks for Hale that night which possibly could’ve opened Hale up for a more confidential and damning conversation. Rogers invited Hale to breakfast with him the next morning. Hale accepted for some reason. Rogers was setting the scene to spring the trap.

Corporations, he believed, don’t corrupt our world – they simply serve our appetites and supply whatever it is we demand. The answer to society’s problems does not lie in getting rid of capitalism, but instead in learning how to make better use of it.

The government’s job is to protect those who have money from those who don’t
