Look for the * for today’s advice.

Robert Kraft 1941

“I’ll just say this,” Kraft continued, “any contact sport, whether it’s women’s soccer, hockey or football, there are going to be concussions. I’ll tell you this, that I think the game has never been safer from an equipment point of view, from a medical point of view. I know I played, two of my sons played, my three grandsons play so we have three generations playing the game, and I think the life lessons that you get playing football are worth the risk.”

*What risks are you willing to take to learn life lessons?

Frederick Lorz 1884

Fred Lorz, did all his training at night because he had a day job as a bricklayer, and earned his spot in the Olympics by placing in a “special five-mile race”

*Run a special 5 mile race tonight.

CROSSOVER – Mark Wahlberg 1971

It’s not easy being Marky Mark. According to a daily schedule that actor and fitness fiend Mark Wahlberg shared on his Instagram story earlier this week, his day starts with a 2:30 a.m. wakeup call — and includes at least two workouts, a round of golf, a recovery session in a cryo chamber and seven separate times for meals and snacks before he hits the hay at 7:30 p.m.

*If you are really ambitious, you could live like Mark Wahlberg today – if you have a cryo chamber.

Brian McKnight 1969

The McKnight 360 Foundation believes that the arts help develop self-confidence in kids and young adults, which in turn provides for a well-rounded and positive educational experience.

*Think of donating to the McKnight 360 Foundation or donating time to help provide a well-rounded and positive educational experience to young people in need. And listen to some Brian McKnight – it’s good for your soul.

Corporations, he believed, don’t corrupt our world – they simply serve our appetites and supply whatever it is we demand. The answer to society’s problems does not lie in getting rid of capitalism, but instead in learning how to make better use of it.

The government’s job is to protect those who have money from those who don’t

Civil government, so far as it is instituted for the security of property, is in reality instituted for the defense of the rich against the poor, or of those who have some property against those who have none at all.

*You have a choice to become a capitalist or learn how to make better use of capitalism as a worker and consumer.

Mark Wahlberg 1971 – watch The Fighter

BE MINDFUL OF WHO LOOKS OUT FOR YOUR BEST INTERESTS— The people who look out for your best interests should love and respect you.  They should know the real you, know what’s best for you, never put you in a bad situation for selfish means, and stand by you when hardship or mistakes come your way.  Those people commonly should be your family, but sometimes (much like bad example old brother heroes) they aren’t the best choice.  Choose who you trust wisely and make the tough choice to stand by them even when they might not match who’s supposed to be in that role.

*Choose who you trust wisely, to watch The Fighter with tonight. If you are living like Marky Mark, make sure you start this movie by 5:30, so you are in bed by 7:30.

Pancho Villa 1878 – Pancho Villa Stew

Pancho Villa’s last words were “It can’t end like this. Tell them I said something”

I was born in Northwestern Pennsylvania and lived in a trailer park. I was raised by very conservative and religious (Wesleyan Methodist) parents. By some miracle I graduated college and moved to Florida. I have been a public school teacher since 1995. I have 7 years until I can retire. I was married in 1999 and divorced in 2001. I remarried in 2017 to Kate - 21 years my junior. Some of my life experiences as a 46-year-old, white American male, will come through in my writing, but the majority of this daily journey will be dedicated to improving myself, and hopefully you as well.
