“I shed people, I shed clothing, I shed possessions, I shed ideas. The biggest thing I’ve shed is my own limitations and perception of who I am.”

*Take today to shed one person, one article of clothing, one possession, and one idea. This will help you shed your own limitations and the perception you have of yourself.

Her “job” was to advance equality.  Tennis was just the way to go about her job.

*What is your “why”? Is your job your primary or a way to make money to advance your “why”?

“The main money lesson is that it isn’t about money. Money is not going to make you happy. It can solve certain problems, and make things more comfortable, but always plan for a rainy day. Always make sure you are living like the trees aren’t going to always go to the sky.”

*Another reminder that money won’t make you happy, but save it for a rainy day.

“A cheat day for me, the first thing that I crave, I’ll eat. That’s my rule. So if I wake up and I want pancakes, I’m gonna eat pancakes. If I want a cheeseburger for lunch or for dinner, I’m gonna eat it. If I want fries, I’m gonna eat the fries.”

*As you mourn the death of JFK, use today as a cheat day. Eat whatever you crave.

I was born in Northwestern Pennsylvania and lived in a trailer park. I was raised by very conservative and religious (Wesleyan Methodist) parents. By some miracle I graduated college and moved to Florida. I have been a public school teacher since 1995. I have 7 years until I can retire. I was married in 1999 and divorced in 2001. I remarried in 2017 to Kate - 21 years my junior. Some of my life experiences as a 46-year-old, white American male, will come through in my writing, but the majority of this daily journey will be dedicated to improving myself, and hopefully you as well.
