ALASKA APPRECIATION DAY
William Seward 1801
To most people the name William Henry Seward brings to mind the Secretary of State under Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson. It was during Johnson’s presidency that Seward negotiated the purchase of Alaska from Russia on March 30, 1867 for 7.2 million dollars. At the time this purchase was thought to be a waste of money and was given the nickname of “Seward’s Folly” or “Seward’s ice box”. (The cost was approximately 2 cents per acre). On Jan 3, 1959 Alaska became our 49th state. After Seward retired at the end of the Andrew Johnson administration, a neighbor in Auburn asked Seward what he considered his greatest achievement as Secretary of State. He replied, “The purchase of Alaska, but it will take the country a generation to appreciate it.”
*Do something that people will ridicule and not appreciate for a generation. Your legacy will have the last laugh. Make plans to travel to Alaska.
Megan Fox 1986
Megan does the circuit, 3 times a week and 60 minutes a day. It consists of exercises like crunches, hyperextensions, knee ups, lateral plank, swiss ball exercises to maintain the body stability.
*Do the Megan Fox circuit today.
Billy Martin 1928
It was the first of five total hirings and firings for Martin. Steinbrenner was rumored to have been considering hiring him again in 1989 when Martin was killed in a car accident on Christmas Day.
*Even if you get fired, leave them wanting to hire you back. When you do leave your job for your dream business, make sure that they will miss you.
He had died vainly struggling to keep secret the nature of his illness, and by extension his sexual preference; by the time the last witness left the stand Monday, his privacy had been thoroughly ransacked.
*Your privacy doesn’t have a price tag.
Janet Jackson 1966
“Control” (1986) Control

*Live life by your standards and listen to Janet – Ms. Jackson if you’re nasty.
Adam Richman 1974 – Dinic’s pork roast pork sandwich
ADAM RICHMAN grew up in the food Mecca of New York City and began his love affair with food early on, sampling all of the diverse culinary specialties The Big Apple had to offer. From samosas to sushi, even at a young age, Adam had a desire to taste it all.
Its roast pork, extra sharp provolone and then it’s topped with broccolini. It’s just one of the most balanced sandwiches I’ve had. I mean, it’s three ingredients but it’s all about the individual quality of each and the quality of the preparation and the quality of the bread. It’s really how each ingredient works with the next. It’s an extraordinary, extraordinary sandwich.
*Adam Richman has been all over the world and his favorite sandwich is Dinic’s Roast Pork Sandwich. Make one yourself or if you’re in Philadelphia, get to the Reading Terminal Market and have one.
