Next time you start staring at yourself in the mirror, try a little science at the same time. Here’s an experiment that shows how your brain works with what you see

He’s not making his popular children’s science show anymore, but Bill Nye the Science Guy is still making a public impact by going after pseudoscience and science denial. He’s railed against the idea of teaching creationism in public schools, and he’s come to the defense of climate science and vaccines.

*Try several “Home Demos: Experiments You Should Try at Home” from Bill Nye’s website.

New U.S. Ambassador Caroline Kennedy is known in Japan as a glamorous appointment who carries political clout, but her new role is also likely to highlight the advocacy and nonprofit work for which she is prominent in her home country.

What do you wish for your children?
I hope that they’ll find people that they love, and work that they find compelling, and that they’re able to make the world around them better for everyone living in it.

*Strive to be what Caroline Kennedy wants for her children – find someone that you love, find work that is compelling, and make the world around you better for everyone living in it.

“Our mission as a manufacturer is to create material abundance by providing goods as plentifully and inexpensively as tap water. This is how we can banish poverty, bring happiness to people’s lives, and make this world a better place.”

*Does your job or business bring happiness to people’s lives and make this world a better place? If not, this is what you must strive to create for yourself, your family, and society.

“Jimi was at his best when the fame never got in the way of the music,” says Etchingham, “and at his worst when the fame took over, when people who hardly knew him suddenly became his best friends.” “He had this thing,” says Altham, “of not being able to say no to people – and this became a problem.”

*Say “no” to people today. Tell them you’re going home to listen to Jimi.

White credits his role as Steve Urkel for developing life skills that helped him transition into an adult actor. “I learned to be on time because otherwise you could miss a major opportunity,” the actor says. “Also, it’s important to live a balanced life, stay healthy, and not waste your money on things like $8 lattes. I am so wildly different from the character that I’ve played, but the role taught me to take everything in stride.”

Do you have a guilty pleasure food?

JW: Soufflés in the middle of the night … I will get in my car and get a chocolate soufflé at midnight, and a glass of wine, and remind myself that most of my troubles are just in my mind.

Wine Pairing Suggestion:

This chocolate souffle pairs perfectly with our Handcraft Petite Sirah – a wonderful, fruit-forward wine where you will taste jam from beginning to end.

*Urkel would not lead you astray. End your day with this chocolate souffle and a glass of Petite Sirah. Do NOT get an $8 latte.

I was born in Northwestern Pennsylvania and lived in a trailer park. I was raised by very conservative and religious (Wesleyan Methodist) parents. By some miracle I graduated college and moved to Florida. I have been a public school teacher since 1995. I have 7 years until I can retire. I was married in 1999 and divorced in 2001. I remarried in 2017 to Kate - 21 years my junior. Some of my life experiences as a 46-year-old, white American male, will come through in my writing, but the majority of this daily journey will be dedicated to improving myself, and hopefully you as well.
