TONY DAY

MIND

Gugu Mbatha-Raw 1983

“When I’m facing a hectic schedule, I tell myself, “Come on, Gugs.” Sometimes you have to be your own coach.

*Be your own coach today – give yourself a pep talk right now.

BODY

Tony Danza 1951

“I exercise religiously and I do something every day. I spend time on the floor, push ups, sit-ups and low back exercises, I lift weights, box, in-line skate, tap dance, and ride a recumbent stationery bike, which I think is the holy grail of fitness as we’re aging.”

*Be “The Boss” and do all the above exercises. Especially riding a stationary bike – the holy grail of fitness!

SOUL

Andie MacDowell 1958

“My mother died when I was 23, so it was a very short… My mother, the best advice she told me was I could do whatever I wanted to do. I believed her.”

*Believe that you can do whatever you want. Talk to your mother for motivation.

MONEY

Tony Romo 1980

“I love football. I love working for CBS. I love the fact that I get to be an analyst doing football games.”

*Think about your ideal job situation and complete this sentence –

I love ____________________________ I love working for ________________________

I love the fact that I get to __________________________________________________

ENTERTAINMENT

James McAvoy 1979 – watch Atonement

*Watch McAvoy almost win a Golden Globe in Atonement.

FOOD

Queen Elizabeth II 1926

Her majesty starts each day with a brisk walk []

Breakfast: The queen starts her day with a cup of Earl Grey tea (no milk or sugar). She then typically transitions to a breakfast of fruit and cereal — she’s partial to Special K []

Before lunch: she’ll partake in a little light drinking — specifically a gin and Dubonnet (a wine-based aperitif) with a slice of lemon and a lot of ice []

Lunch at 1 pm sharp: a favorite meal of hers is grilled Dover sole with wilted spinach []

High tea at 4.30 pm: The queen goes all out for her daily afternoon tea — there’s a traditional spread, complete with finger sandwiches, scones and her favorite cakes. She must have two types of sandwiches, such as cucumber, smoked salmon, egg with mayonnaise, ham and mustard — crusts cut off. She also enjoys the crust-less jam pennies, tiny raspberry jam sandwiches cut into circles []

Dinner: Gaelic steak, made from fillets of beef and venison

Dessert: She finishes her day on a light and fresh note — with strawberries and sweet white peaches. Maybe some chocolate, too []

And she washes it all down with a glass of Champagne []

Bed is never later than 11:30 pm unless there’s a formal banquet []

*Live like the Queen of England today. Check off as you go.

SNUB – Rob Riggle 1970 – “Pow!”

Published by

Travis Jones

I was born in Northwestern Pennsylvania and lived in a trailer park. I was raised by very conservative and religious (Wesleyan Methodist) parents. By some miracle I graduated college and moved to Florida. I have been a public school teacher since 1995. I have 7 years until I can retire. I was married in 1999 and divorced in 2001. I remarried in 2017 to Kate - 21 years my junior. Some of my life experiences as a 46-year-old, white American male, will come through in my writing, but the majority of this daily journey will be dedicated to improving myself, and hopefully you as well.
