YOU’VE GOTTA HAVE GUINNESS DAY

MIND

Bono 1960

“As a rock star, I have two instincts, I want to have fun, and I want to change the world. I have a chance to do both.”

*When is the next time you will have fun?

How can you change the world?

BODY

Halston Sage 1993

“My favorite weekend activity is riding bikes to breakfast.”

*Ride your bike to breakfast this morning.

SOUL

Lauren Potter 1990

“I know that people can be wrong when they judge someone else just because they are different. We are all different. And that isn’t bad, it’s just, well, different!”

*If you judge people, stop. Right now. Don’t do it anymore, starting today.

MONEY

Missy Franklin 1995

“It took me a long time to say the words, “I am retiring.” A long, long time. But now I’m ready.”

“I’m ready to not be in pain every day. I’m ready to become a wife and, one day, a mother. I’m ready to continue growing each and every day to be the best person and role model I can be. I’m ready for the rest of my life.”

*Know when it is time to retire. You are working to live. Not living to work.

ENTERTAINMENT

*Watch Astaire almost win an Oscar in The Towering Inferno.

I was born in Northwestern Pennsylvania and lived in a trailer park. I was raised by very conservative and religious (Wesleyan Methodist) parents. By some miracle I graduated college and moved to Florida. I have been a public school teacher since 1995. I have 7 years until I can retire. I was married in 1999 and divorced in 2001. I remarried in 2017 to Kate - 21 years my junior. Some of my life experiences as a 46-year-old, white American male, will come through in my writing, but the majority of this daily journey will be dedicated to improving myself, and hopefully you as well.
