JFK DAY

MIND

John F. Kennedy 1917

“If someone is going to kill me, they are going to kill me.”

JFK had coolness when faced with difficult decisions. He had the ability to inspire people. His compassion and his willingness to fight for the poor, the elderly and the ill were most important.

*You want to live life to the fullest – so that you do not fear death. While alive, be like JFK – have coolness, inspire people, have compassion, and a willingness to help the poor and elderly. If you haven’t figured it out yet, JFK is my favorite president.

BODY

Carmelo Anthony 1984

“But there were times I stayed away from all meats. I played with my diet a lot.”

“It was all fish and vegetables, juices, things like that.”

*Today you live off fish, vegetables, and juices. Play basketball today and shoot every time you touch the ball – play no defense.

SOUL

Daniel Tosh 1975

Tosh’s father is a Presbyterian minister, and he doesn’t have particularly nice things to say about his relationship with his father as a kid.

“You know, you can only cram your beliefs down a young kid’s throat for so long before he goes, “you know, the other side seems to be having a lot more fun.”

*What beliefs were crammed down your throat?

MONEY

Bob Hope 1903

“If my estate is worth over $50 million, I’ll kiss your ass. I mean that.”

Forbes estimated a net worth of $115 million – more than enough to collect on his bet. He never paid up.

Net Worth = Total Assets – Total Liabilities

*Do not underestimate your worth. You may end up having to kiss someone’s ass.

ENTERTAINMENT

FOOD

Melanie Brown 1975 – Mel B’s killer army slop

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

“I’d like to say only Indian food but sometimes it gives me heartburn because of the spices, so I’m going to be realistic and say what I call Mel B’s killer army slop: ground turkey, a lot of chopped garlic and red onion, two tins of tomatoes, red and green peppers, sometimes a chili pepper and a little bit of sweet corn – boom!”

*Eat Mel B’s killer army slop and wash it all down with JFK’s favorite daiquiri.

SNUB – Riley Keough 1989

Published by

Travis Jones

I was born in Northwestern Pennsylvania and lived in a trailer park. I was raised by very conservative and religious (Wesleyan Methodist) parents. By some miracle I graduated college and moved to Florida. I have been a public school teacher since 1995. I have 7 years until I can retire. I was married in 1999 and divorced in 2001. I remarried in 2017 to Kate - 21 years my junior. Some of my life experiences as a 46-year-old, white American male, will come through in my writing, but the majority of this daily journey will be dedicated to improving myself, and hopefully you as well.
