CHEW ON A WET TOWEL DAY
Dustin Hoffman 1937
We will all meet a Mrs. Robinson in our lives. No, I’m not talking about having a sexual affair with an older woman, but rather about meeting someone who uses you for their personal satisfaction (whatever that may be). It took Ben a while to realize Mrs. Robinson was just using him as an outlet to release the physical frustrations caused by her broken marriage. There is nothing wrong with this; just make sure you recognize it when it happens so you can find a way to take advantage of the situation as well.
*Realize who is using you and find a way to take advantage of the situation today.
Jen Selter 1993
Sometimes your biggest battle is yourself! Our brain can be persuasive sometimes, but you have to remember you; yes YOU ARE THE MASTER OF YOUR WORLD! The more you tell yourself you CAN do it, the more you WILL do it!
*You are the master of your world. Today you will do this glutes workout in honor of Jen Selter.
Varghese Payyappilly Palakkappilly 1876
On 19 March 1927, Varghese Kathanar founded the Sisters of the Destitute in Chunangamvely. This organization was intended to continue what he saw as Christ’s redemptive mission among the poor. He found abandoned people, brought them to the shelter of the Home for the Aged and nursed them.
*Research and find how you can help the homeless today.
Roger Federer 1981
He balances work and life.
Instead of competing at the exclusion of everything, Federer has created a work-life balance. In fact, he has said that he couldn’t do it without his family. Tennis is important but it is not everything.
*Write out a list of ways that you can start improving your work-life balance today.
Shawn Mendes 1998
Attention to detail is Mendes’ specialty as an adolescent who grew up and became a superstar in the social media era. Through Vine, YouTube and Twitter, he built the type of massive, grassroots fandom over many months that can take most artists several years to obtain. It’s what made his rise to Number One, with his debut album Handwritten and single “Stitches,” so apparently seamless.
*Listen to Sean Mendes or watch him on YouTube.
Jerry Tarkanian 1930 – seven spiced shark steaks
Jerry Tarkanian was one of basketball’s all-time great characters. His eyes showed his emotion, and his sideline towel revealed his lean toward the superstitious. Tarkanian won more than 900 games in college, including the 1990 NCAA national championship at UNLV. His greatest success came at UNLV with four Final Fours and a number of NBA players at the next level. Tark The Shark coached at Long Beach State, Fresno State, and UNLV making the base of his operation for his entire career the West Coast. He was innovative, gutsy enough to play full-court pressure basketball and still get his players out on the fast break at every chance. His Runnin’ Rebels really were just that – college basketball’s fast-paced, rebellious gunners. Tarkanian’s career was often overshadowed by run-ins with the NCAA, but he was remarkably successful with his players both on the court and off for nearly 40 years.
*Enjoy these seven spiced shark steaks in honor of the very spicy career of Tark the Shark. Chew on a wet towel for dessert.
