The * will guide you today.
MIRACLE ON THE MOON DAY
Neil Armstrong 1930
Be humble. He didn’t use his achievements and successes as an opportunity to brag but to push others forward. Enjoy your successes and celebrate your little steps forward but do so humbly.
*Use your achievements from this year as an opportunity to push others forward. Share your successes from 365DOLF with others. Get them on the bandwagon with you. Watch First Man for inspiration.
Lolo Jones 1982
If I’m running for longer and slower, then I get less rest time. But if my run time is faster and shorter, I get a longer time to recover so that I can run at a higher velocity next round. Rest is really important.
*Rest is important. But only if you’ve earned it. Run longer but slower or run shorter but faster today.
Adam Yauch 1964
But around the time of 1992’s Check Your Head, Yauch became a practicing Buddhist, and in many ways the spiritual center of the Beastie Boys, pushing them away from their knuckle-headed past towards a more adventurous, high-brow plus junk culture aesthetic.
Buddhism is a path of practice and spiritual development leading to Insight into the true nature of reality. Buddhist practices like meditation are means of changing yourself in order to develop the qualities of awareness, kindness, and wisdom.
Buddhism teaches that the mind and the body cannot be understood independently of one another. This means that as well as cultivating the mind through meditation, the physical dimension of being is also very important.
*Look into Buddhism. I think it’s the closest thing to what 365DOLF is all about. Improving your mind, body, and soul. And listen to some Beastie Boys
Patrick Ewing 1962
The words Patrick Ewing besieged us with were these: “NBA players make a lot of money. But they spend a lot of money, too.”
*It doesn’t matter how much money you make, it’s how much money you spend.
Herb Brooks 1937 – watch Miracle
On February 5th, 2004, a statue of Herbie was erected in St. Paul’s Rice Park across from the one of famed Minnesota author F. Scott Fitzgerald. It was Fitzgerald who wrote the now famous line: “Show me a hero and I will show you a tragedy.” That was Herbie. Gone from this earth, Herb Brooks has earned his place in sports immortality and will never be forgotten. One of our nation’s most charismatic and inventive coaches, he was a true American hero.
*Watch the movie about one of the most iconic moments in sports and Cold War history, Do you believe in miracles?
Maureen McCormick 1956 – Salad of Grilled Zucchini and Summer Squash with Avocado
Marcia breaks a date with Charlie when “big man on campus” Doug Simpson asks her out. However, after she gets hit in the nose with a football, Doug Simpson breaks his date with her.
*Watch Marcia Brady get her nose broken (bad karma) while eating the salad made by the actress who played her.
